Pediatric Care through the Lens of Ayurveda

Ayurveda as a health and wellness system has been supporting mothers and their new-born children for thousands of years - offering a wealth of resources and insights that allow us to confidently parent our new-borns with a variety of solutions at our disposal.

In this first webinar of a 2 part series, Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc, founder and director of The Ayurvedic Institute, will explore the Ayurvedic approach to pediatric care by beginning with an understanding of all of the factors that impact the development of a fetus in the womb and can define the eventual Prakruti - unique doshic constitution - of our child.

We will explore ancient Ayurvedic texts and how they frame pediatric healthcare as a process that begins early, while the child is still in the womb, not waiting until after the birth of a child, and how certain factors can impact the experience of the pregnancy and ultimate ongoing health of both mother and baby.

Join world-renowned Ayurvedic physician and teacher, Vasant Lad, as he dives into the development cycle of a child in the womb from an Ayurvedic paradigm so that after this webinar you will the walk away with a fundamental understanding of how to support a future mom-to-be with practical food and lifestyle choices.

What is our Prakruti?

The prakruti of any person is unique to them and is given much weight in Ayurveda. For ease of reference Prakruti is often translated as our constitution - our physical, mental, emotional, and energetic make-up - however the true meaning of the Sanskrit word is much more intricate. The prefix pra means “original” and kruti means “creation” - in this context a person’s prakruti is their unique and inherent balance of the three doshas at the moment of their creation.

It is at the moment of birth that a person’s physiological and psychological tendencies become fixed. Exploring our prakruti allows us to know ourselves on a fundamental level, and lean into our personal and unique balance for our own ideal health and wellness.
